Clothes for Mums in Family Photos

Yeah, I get it, we mums are usually so busy figuring out what everyone else should wear that our own outfit is a last minute, ‘throw something together’ kind of thing.

So here are my tip tips for styling yourself for your family photos:

The aim is for the focus to be on your face.

A large area of bare skin will attract more attention than your face.

Unless you are really comfortable with your arms, go for ¾ sleeves.

Pick something dressier than your everyday look.

Choose a dress or skirt and top that will allow you to move easily and not restrict your ability to pose for photos. Eg a maxi-dress with a denim jacket. Make sure the top won’t ride up too much if you are playing with your kids. Raise your arms over your head to check.

Find a balance between too baggy and too tight. If you are wearing skinny jeans, go for a more flowing top. If your skirt is flowing, choose a more fitted top.

Choose comfortable shoes that you can move around and walk in easily.

Consider closed-toe shoes rather than white trainers that will stand out.

Wear your hair the way you normally would with the outfit.

Choose a lipstick you would normally use so your lips don’t blend in with your skin tone.  Steer away from using nude lipstick.

There’s a tonne of advice out there and it’s hard to know where to go.

Relax mumma, you can do this, and you will look amazing in the photos.

I just know it.
